Deaths do not equal new cases. Those numbers are not correlated. So of course the news blows things all out of proportion. That is after all their job: sensationalize anything to get good ratings. But back to the virus.
Do quarantines work? I suppose so. Do americans actually abide by quarantines? No, no we don’t. Do masks work? Maybe. But in Sweden doctors were fired for wearing them because they induce panic in people.
Let’s just look at these numbers.
Sweden
Now the US
It seems there may be a correlation between how decisive the government response is and how high the testing rates are but even more so the age of the population and the availability of hospital beds seems a more distinct factor in mortality, as well as underlying factors. And unfortunately we have a lot of degenerative illness and obesity in this country.
This country also has no definitive plan of action. So realistically all we can hope for is herd immunity here. I believe, even with the mutations, we are getting there. But we still have a lot of vulnerable people to look out for. And we are headed into flu season. We also still have an economy to boost. We still have a huge moral problem and a volatile and angry divide in our political system. Which only aggravates the situation even more.
I have no answers. It’s not my place to enforce anything on anyone.
I firmly believe most of us are just doing the best we can: coping and enduring.
I just like to look at numbers and not rely on any single one news source to get a more rounded picture of a situation.
This thing isn’t going away anytime soon seems to be the clear thing. We are after all one world and one human race. And the virus seems to understand that much better than we do. π

Herd immunity that may be part of the answer but having a vaccine like a flu vaccine constantly updated will certainly help all the numbers and most importantly help us as individuals. the bottom line is we have to maintain our own health. Eat well, sleep well take care f ourselves and families. if wearing a mask helps so be it. i personally wear them for the protection they offer others.

I wear them where I am required to. I have zero plans to get the vaccine, and thankfully I have that right still.

I haven’t decided about the vaccine , i know i get the flu shot yearly because of my interactions as a coach and coach instructor. i run my body down sometimes with long days on a soccer pitch. i don’t think we will ever be forced into taking the vaccine, but i do believe at some time it will be made mandatory for children entering school like so many other shots,

Yes but fortunately in most states you can out of them with religious beliefs. I have my children get some. The ones I feel necessary and worth the dangers. There is no recourse for bad side affects. So this must be taken into account.
