Because in my mind converting our 800 military bases into humanitarian bases sounds ideal. Using those same soldiers, medics and resources to proctor peace instead of military defense; teaching the soldiers compassionate, peaceful acts of service on top of military training seems like the blessing we can give the world and our own citizens.
Let the bases become homeless shelters as well as free medical facilities. Turn that $598 billion or 54% of federal spending into services that benefit mankind and not just more weaponry and defense.
Novel. Idealistic. But doing the right thing has got to start somewhere. Shifting the world towards a positive direction needs to begin sometime. Doesn’t it?
