And labels are just misnomers. No one is only one thing. I thought it was funny mincing words with the pedophilia specialized psychologist. How she didn’t like me using the term. How she corrected me on its actual psychological definition. How she wanted to differentiate between the kind of predator that was simply opportunistic and didn’t necessarily favor children and those that sought children specifically.
I didn’t see the point in any of that. Why should I care what people want to call themselves or what society wants to label people as? I care more about consequences. Are your purposeful actions hurting other people; especially the innocent and powerless? Did forced actions of sexual abuse towards another inflict harmful and lasting damage? Then who cares what you want to call it. It’s wrong.
Is there a way that sexual abuse can not be damaging? That’s a question far above my pay grade. Can the damage be mitigated or reversed? That’s more my speed. That seems a noteworthy cause to take up. That seems a plausible idea.
So many things to do, experiences to have, challenges to give oneself in this world, so many causes to take up, so many wrongs to right, so many humanitarian and loving endeavors to champion…..how could one possibly get bored in this lifetime? I mean really.
It might not all be fun but I do find it all so very fascinating.
