Not sure if everyone knows it’s winter here. Not that I have that much of a global audience. There are a handful of countries that pop up on the summary of my “blog audience”. I’m rather new at this and don’t have the lingo down and I don’t want to go as far as to say fans although I do think some of you are…. And I appreciate you DEEPLY.
There are really no organic strawberries available right now. I’ve seen a few at Trader Joe’s and I don’t step into Whole Foods so don’t ask me.
Strawberries being not in season and regionally available only during a short summer.*
I was thinking….
Hydroponics? What’s the solution? I know. No fresh strawberries during winter is a good start, but I’m thinking overall solution to food production. Pesticide increase CAN NOT be the solution. As bacteria, viruses, foragers get more adept at evading it more needs to be added; ergo the Genetic Modification so that the plant can bear the weight of so much chemical and survive. That kind of Modification is not only inherently stupid, it’s dangerous for everyone…. including the world.
Stores and lobbyist, government officials, and obviously manufacturers claim non-pesticides is more expensive and time consuming and yet I’ve talked to farmers that completely disagree that are organic farmers. Wouldn’t they know?
I wrote a letter to Trader Joe asking not for more Organic produce but for produce that is pesticide free, which is what organic was originally intended to include. Nowadays I’m honestly not even 100% sure anymore how much safer it is. The gap may be marginal on most items beside soft skin that you eat ones….and even then I may be being naive. Lol. At least they aren’t GMO though. Give me one win….someone. PLEASE!!
Does anyone care? I see the stuff coming out of people. It is a direct reflection of what goes in, minus how your body processed it, DIRECT!
If that doesn’t make you want to revisit your lifestyle you are a lost cause. Just saying. There’s enough information out there now. No one is that oblivious. I wonder where do these executives of Monsanto (now Bayer isn’t it?) eat? Bet you a million dollars they shop at whole foods and places if not like that even more expensive and healthier. Like the farmers that deliver to your door now, wholesome organic products. Not cheap. So worth it if you aren’t struggling to just get by.
Why is bartering not a thing anymore? Craigslist….. I’ve tried the barter a few times. Never panned out for me personally. But I believe in the system itself. I really do.
I keep thinking love will win. Eventually. But in a world of push and pull. In a world so divided black and white. Wrong and right. Good versus evil. The stakes will always be even. Does the universe even care if we survive?
*It’s cute how regional proud Oregonians are. I find it quite endearing really….until it goes overboard. I get anger, but does it have to get so bad. Breath a little. Take a yoga class. Jeezus. Progress progresses eventually. What else is there? Growing pains aren’t just for people.
Point……. I did have one here.
